Blessed Be the Peacemaker….

Blessed be the peacemaker ….

Do you know what a peacemaker is called in the Bible?

A child of God

(Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”)

I mean, I don’t know anything else I would rather be called, but a Child of the most High. The God of our universe. The Creator of the World.

Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God.

Wow.

Peace.

Do we have that?

Think about your life, your family, our world?

Over the last many years, I’ve had a longing for something- but I couldn’t put my finger on it. You know when you have a word on the tip of your tongue but you can’t quite get it out? That’s what I’ve been feeling. I couldn’t quite seem to figure out exactly what I’ve been missing. Until recently.

Peace.

Peace changes everything doesn’t it? It changes the way we live our daily life, how we interact with our kids and spouse, with our friends, how we feel. Our “ins and outs”

I’ve always said I wanted my home to be peaceful. A place people want to come, where my children felt “at home”. Where they could look back once grown and would want to come home to.

But it’s hard to find peace these days isn’t it? We get busy, bustling from here and there- we forget to be kind.

We look at our world and we see wars, fighting, riots, burning, looting, arguing, hate. Is that peace? Can there be peace hidden in that chaos? Where do we find it? Where do we look for it when it seems that every corner there is no peace to be found? When our hearts feel overwhelmed… and honestly just scared.

John 14:27 says

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

“I do not give it to you as the world gives”

Jesus gives us the ultimate peace. There is no where else we can find it, no where else to look- the world sure doesn’t have it. Your spouse and kids can’t give it to you. Your job that you love so much, it’s not going to provide that peace you long for.

When you put your hope and faith in earthly things you don’t fill your cup up with the peace you need-

It’s just like Jesus was talking straight to us in the last part of that scripture, “Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.

Are you troubled? I think we all are! When we don’t have the peace that only Jesus can give, what fills its spot is fear and trouble!

It sneaks in without us even realizing it’s there. Worry fills our day and without even realizing it we have given over to fear and any hope of peace is gone.

Check out John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Here Jesus says it again – “so that in ME (Jesus!) you may have PEACE.”

Jesus isn’t telling us that life is easy, we know that, right.. I mean we’ve been living it- and it doesn’t feel easy!! He tells us right here that He knows we will have struggles, He knows we will have worries, and pain, restless nights, anxious hearts- BUT He says this my friends – “TAKE HEART”!!! Be excited! Chin up! You know why? Let me just tell you!

“I have overcome the world!”

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Remember the Peace that only Jesus can give. Reach for that- because when you’re reaching for that peace for your own life- you won’t be able to help but show grace and peace to others! And then you’ll be showing the outward appearance of a peacemaker. Jesus tells us in John “my peace I GIVE to you”. He’s offering it up, we just have to accept it. Our world doesn’t need more hate, shaming, screaming, fighting. It needs more peace. It needs more Jesus.

I want to be know as a child of God- a peacemaker. What about you?

❤️Courtney
